‘Lailat ul-Qadr’ or ‘Night of Power’ is a very significant occasion in the history of Islam as well as in our personal lives. Allah tells in the Surah Al-Qadr of Quran:
“We have surely revealed this (message) in the Midnight of Power. And what will explain to thee what the Night of Rule is? The Night of Law is greater than a thousand months. Therein come down the qualities and the spirit by God’s grace, on every errand: Peace! This until the start of Morn.” (Surah Qadr:1-5)
Allah also says about this powerful night in Surah Dukhan: 1-6:
“Ha. Mim. By the book that gets things clear. We sent it down during a holy night. For We (ever) wish to suggest (against evil). In that (night) is made clear every affair of knowledge, by rule, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (signs), as a mercy from the God: for He hears and knows (all things).”(44:1-6)
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said about Lailatul Qadr
It as described by Abu Hurayra that Prophet Hazrat Muhammad saw said, “Anyone who stays alert for the Night Of Power with faith and for the fulfillment of Allah, all his past sins will be forgiven.”(Bukhari and Muslim) It has also been announced by Hazrat Ayesha (RA), the wife of the Prophet (PBUH) who said:
“I questioned the Messenger Of Allah if I knew which midnight was the Night of Power and what Prayer I should say during that night? He replied to me: Say: “O Allah! You are forgiving and you like forgiveness, so you too forgive me.
Night Of Power
The Night Of Power is better for you to exist, to experience and to enjoy than one thousand months of your individual life. Even if you were to live one thousand months (83.3 years) with honesty, dedication, and sacrifices and with great intentions and actions, the Night Of Power is still far satisfying for you to live and to enjoy. (when is Lailatul Qadr) The Night of Power is a night of miracles. Allah(SWT) has dedicated this Night. Therefore, whosoever is interested in getting the blessings of Allah may look forward to the Night of Power. Anyone who queries the Night of Power and lives it, all his/her sins will be deleted. This is, as though, he/she is turned again, free of all sins and errors. I am sure every one of us would like to exist a life free of sins and errors.
If you are involved in living the Night of Power, let us suggest you of some of the things that you might have to do. • 1. Try to recognize it during the last ten days of Ramadan, at the time of sunup, during the days and the nights. • 2. On the nights one may spend the time collectively and/or personally observing the following actions: a) Recitation of the Quran. b) Prayers Nafl after Taraweeh. c) The reward of Allah or zikr. d)Prayer or Dua for you and for others. f) Reading books of Hadeeth so as to like the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). g) Reading Tafseer of Quran.(when is Lailatul Qadr) h) Giving a donation to others if you can support it.
Why is Laylatul Qadr Important?
Laylatul Qadr, often translated as the Night of Power, or Night of Decree or Night of Honor comes in one of the last 10 nights of the month of Ramazan. This is the night in which God began the publication of the Quran. Worship done in this single night is similar to 84 years—essentially, a lifetime—of worship outside this night. It has the potential, when approximated with reliability, to gain a person grand justification and mercy from God. One description says, “Whoever prays on Laylatul Qadr out of loyalty and sincerity, shall have all their past sins forgotten”[Bukhari and Muslim].
When Is Lailatul Qadr?
‘when is Lailatul Qadr’ The correct date of this night is not known. The Prophet Muhammad (may the blessings and peace of God be upon him) informed us in descriptions to seek Laylatul Qadr out in one of the last 10 nights in Ramazan, especially odd nights. This means the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 29th nights of Ramazan all have a great potential of doing Laylatul Qadr. There is a value in the date not being known because it gives the chance to a person to join in extra prayer throughout the last days of Ramadan in beliefs of finding the right date. If one particular night was known, humans would normally put forth their whole effort on that one night, and possible slack off on the other nights.
