“Islam” is an Arabic word which determines to retire one’s will to the will of Allah. History of Islam is a monotheistic faith that explains that there is only one theologian being, one greatest Creator of the world. Muslims believe that Islam is the right religion of Allah told to humanity. It is a worldly religion that can be followed by anyone at any time and in all place. The basic thought of this way of life is total submission to Allah.
Islam is a whole, holistic way of living that includes every perspective of life. Islam leaves no stone unturned as it guides humanity on how to perform in every area of life: person, social, material, reliable, ethical, legal, social, political, economic, and global.
What is a Muslim?
A Muslim is anyone who proposes their will to the one and only real God who is deserving of worship, “Allah” (God). A Muslim also believes in the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the last prophet of Allah. By presenting oneself and worshiping Allah, a Muslim achieves peace within submission to his commandments. Peace is a natural result of submitting to the will of God.
For a person to become a Muslim and take Islam as their religion, they must say and believe in the following phrase:
لآ اِلَهَ اِلّا اللّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُوُل اللّهِ
La ilaha illa Allah. Muhammad Rasool Allah
This sentence correctly means “There is no Allah but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger.” The sentence also means “There is none true of worship except Allah, and Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is His messenger.”
Who is Allah?
Say: He is Allah, (the) One; Allah, the Eternal; He did not beget (give birth) and He was not begotten (given birth to), And there has never been anyone equal to Him.
Qu’ran, Chapter 112, Verses 1 – 4
Muslims believe He has no co-workers in god, which involves having no son, and nothing in the world is similar to Him. Muslims believe that Allah is the Originator and Sustainer of the world and that he created human beings for only one purpose: to worship Him only.
